Atopiyo LLC was founded in March 2021 by Ryotaro Ako – a recovered patient of atopic dermatitis (Head Office:3-12B-1009, Ichikawaminami, Ichikawa-shi, Chiba, Japan).

Atopiyo, Japan’s first visual SNS for atopic dermatitis, has grown in popularity.

It has been downloaded over 20,000 since released on the Apple Store in July 2018 and posted over 38,000 photos for the past 3 years.

Atopiyo is the first app in Japan that allows users to anonymously record and share their symptoms of atopic dermatitis by posting not only text but also”‘photos”, aiming to help patients suffering from atopic dermatitis with early recovery (surveyed by Atopiyo LLC in July 2018, App Store and Google Play).

Since its release on the Apple Store in July 2018, Ryotaro Ako, a recovered patient of atopic dermatitis, has won seven awards in Japan, including the Japan Healthcare Business Contest sponsored by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

As of September 2021, the app has been downloaded 20,000 and posted 38,000 photos (10,000 of which are public) , having grown into the largest app for people with atopic dermatitis in Japan. In addition, the app is highly rated by users and it has a 4.5 star-rating on average (on a star scale of 5).

Ryotaro Ako, Developer of Atopiyo

Ryotaro Ako has been working as a volunteer in a patient group, having experience with three allergic diseases: atopic dermatitis, asthma, and rhinitis. Ryotaro developed this app by himself, based on a patient interview, the views of Akiko Ako, a pharmacist, and the supervision of programmers.

After getting a master’s degree from Keio University Graduate School of Science and Technology, passed the CPA exam, and established Atopiyo LLC after working at Ernst & Young ShinNihon LLC and Renova Co.
