Makuhari Messe – One of Asia’s leading international trade fair venues

Makuhari Messe is Japan’s largest convention facility located in Mihama Ward, Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture. It consists of three facilities: the International Exhibition Hall (Chiba Prefecture Japan Convention Center International Exhibition Hall) consisting of two facilities with a total of 11 halls, the International Conference Hall, and the Makuhari Event Hall.

It is one of the largest convention facilities in Japan, one of the leading international trade fair venues in the Asian region, and one of Japan’s leading MICE* facilities.
*MICE: A coined word using the initials of Meeting, Incentive Travel, Convention, Exhibition/Event, a general term for business events.

Makuhari Event Hall Arena

2-1 Nakase, Mihama-ku, Chiba City, where the facility is located, is adjacent to a hotel, commercial facilities, and restaurants, and access to Makuhari Messe is about a 5-minute walk from the nearest station (JR Keiyo Line: Kaihin Makuhari Station). It is also easily accessible from the Tokyo metropolitan area, Narita Airport, and Haneda Airport.

Easy access to facilities

This facility has received awards such as the 32nd and 40th BCS Awards (Building Contractors Association Awards), the IAITA Quarternario Award, and the 5th Chiba Prefecture Architectural Culture Award as excellent architectural works in Japan. Chiba Prefecture, the Development Bank of Japan, and Chiba City are major shareholders, and Makuhari Messe Inc. operates and manages the facility.

International Exhibition Hall 1-8

From trade fairs and exhibitions to large-scale ceremonies, gatherings, and concerts, this hall is the largest international exhibition hall in Makuhari Messe.

Halls 1 to 8 have a total exhibition space of 54,000 m², and can be divided into eight pillarless halls by movable partitions.

In addition, the floor of the exhibition hall is equipped with a pit (electricity, water supply, etc.), and the ceiling height is 15 to 30m, enabling a variety of presentations.

The exterior, which is inspired by the mountains of the Boso Peninsula in Chiba Prefecture, and the red roof of the central plaza are particularly eye-catching.

International Exhibition Hall 9-11

A medium-sized international exhibition hall featuring a bow-shaped roof that arranges the waves of Sotobo and Uchibo in Chiba Prefecture.

The 9th to 11th halls have an area of 18,000m² and can be divided into three exhibition halls: 9th hall with 9,000m² and 10th and 11th halls with 4,500m² by movable partitions.

From the 2nd floor, it is directly connected to the international exhibition halls 1 to 8, and the fountain and green promenade “Messe Mall“. Access from Kaihin Makuhari Station is the closest, and it can be used integrally with other facilities of Makuhari Messe.

International Conference Hall

The International Conference Hall that can be used for a wide range of purposes, from international conferences to corporate training and reception parties.

It consists of a convention hall that can accommodate 1,600 people, an international conference room, and a total of 22 small and medium-sized meeting rooms.

It is also connected to the International Exhibition Halls 1 to 8, and it is possible to hold seminars and lectures at the same time as the exhibition.

Makuhari Event Hall

A dome-shaped hall on the third floor that can be used for a variety of purposes, from concerts, ceremonies and gatherings to sporting events, exhibitions, and lectures.

The total floor area is 15,582m², the building area is 9,357m², and the arena area is 3,098m².

Makuhari Event Hall

The ceiling height is as high as 27m, and there are 3,948 fixed seats including box seats, 912 movable seats, and about 3,000 temporary seats, which can accommodate up to 9,000 people.
